The protection radius of a Lightning Rod with an Early Streamer Emission Device

The protection radius of an Early Streamer Emission (ESE) lightning rod is related to its height (h) relative to the structure to be protected, its efficiency (early ejection time in µs) and the calculated protection level.

After defining the outline of the buildings and/or structures to be protected and once the level of protection has been determined (see article: What is the level of protection ?), the LPS Manager offers you the option to select the Early Streamer Emission Lightning Rod and its height.

By changing the lightning rod's firing time (expressed in µs) and the lightning rod's height (h) relative to the top of the building or structure to be protected, you vary the resulting protection radius: the greater the firing time and the height of the lightning rod, the greater the resulting protection radius.

The map allows verification that the resulting protection radius covers the area to be protected.
