The protection radius of a Lightning Rod with Initiation Device
The protection radius of a Lightning Rod with an Ignition Device is linked to its height (h) in relation to the structure to be protected, to its effectiveness (startup advance in µs) and to the calculated level of protection.
After having delimited the outline of the buildings and/or structures to be protected and once the level of protection has been determined (see the article: What is the level of protection ), the LPS Manager asks you to select the Lightning Rod to the Priming Device as well as its height.
By modifying the advance at initiation of the lightning rod (expressed in µs) and the height (h) of the lightning rod relative to the top of the building or structure to be protected, you vary the protection radius obtained: the greater the advance at ignition and the height of the lightning rod are greater and the greater the protection radius obtained.
The map allows you to verify that the protection radius obtained covers the area to be protected.
